Job Summary
Prepare accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects by reviewing construction drawings, blueprints, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations, and support the Project Management and Engineering departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and bid documents.
- Prepare accurate job estimates for heavy civil and highway construction projects.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, equipment, and materials.
- Use estimating software and traditional methods to calculate project costs.
- Request, review, and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and vendors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Stay updated on industry practices and market developments.
- Support Project Management and Engineering teams by addressing estimating-related questions.
- Manage multiple estimating tasks while meeting project deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in the heavy construction industry.
- Experience with heavy civil and highway construction takeoffs.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and bid documents.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet demanding deadlines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
Required Skill
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid estimating software.
