About this opportunity
JLB is working with a fast-growing vision and cognition training company who works with elite sports teams and is expanding its US commercial presence. Their systems train athletes’ visual and cognitive abilities and are already deployed with professional teams in the US, including MLB.
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to open doors, build pipeline and support demos and trials with pro teams, colleges and private training facilities.
The role:
- Drive new business across: Pro sports, Colleges, Private training/performance facilities, etc.
- Identify and contact target prospects via email, phone and LinkedIn: Coaches and coordinators and performance/skills coaches and relevant decision-makers
- Leverage your existing network in elite sport and the company’s existing US contacts and references to secure intro calls, demos and trials.
- Coordinate and support in-person demos and trials: Work alongside a senior BD leader and/or sports scientist who will handle the technical/scientific elements. Manage logistics, relationships and commercial follow-up.
- Own the commercial process: Progress opportunities from first contact through to proposal, negotiation and close. Feed accurate pipeline and market feedback back to the senior team.
- Act as the on-the-ground commercial presence in the US, with regular domestic travel.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Experience in B2B sales / business development in sport or sports technology
- OR performance-side experience (coaching, sports science, etc.) plus some selling/advocacy of performance solutions.
- Proven ability to open doors with:
- Coaches, coordinators and performance staff in pro teams and/or colleges; and/or
- Owners/decision-makers in private performance facilities.
- Comfortable building pipeline from scratch through disciplined outbound activity.
- Able to speak credibly to coaches and practitioners (not a hard-sell profile).
- Willing and able to travel within the US for meetings, demos and trials.
Preferred
- Network and experience in baseball:
- Relationships with MLB/MiLB clubs, hitting coordinators, or leading private facilities.
- Understanding of how technology is used in baseball (ball tracking, performance analytics, training systems, etc.).
- Experience selling sports tech, performance tech, or medical/biomechanics solutions into elite sport.
- Experience with US colleges/athletic departments and/or other US pro sports.
What to expect
- This is a proactive new business role, not pure account management.
- You’ll be supported on vision/cognition science by senior BD and sports science colleagues.
- You’ll be building on existing US traction and references rather than starting from zero.
Compensation
- Base salary: $80,000–$90,000
- OTE year 1 $120,000-$150,000
- Commission/bonus structure tied to new business and revenue performance
