About this opportunity
Medical Malpractice Defense Associate or Partner | Raleigh, NC | $135,000 to $240,000
- You chose the right practice. Med mal is the work you want.
- So why does trial prep still feel like something you do alone?
- Records read late at night because the files keep coming. An expert prepped with nobody to rehearse the cross with. A partner who arrives the week of trial.
- On this Raleigh team, the person sitting next to you on day one is probably the person sitting next to you at your first trial.
Who I’m recruiting for
- I’m Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment, hiring a medical malpractice defense attorney for a national firm’s Raleigh office.
- I know this team well. If you want the inside view before applying, I’ll give it to you straight.
Why this office
- The Triangle is one of the busiest healthcare markets in the Southeast. Hospital systems, physician groups and their carriers need defense counsel who genuinely understand the medicine.
- People rarely leave this office. That tells you more than any website could.
- National reach, with a Raleigh team small enough that you’ll know everyone by name.
- Openings here don’t come up often. This is one.
If you’re an associate, toward $135,000
- You’re a couple of years into litigation and ready to build real deposition, motion and expert skills.
- You’ll learn the medicine well enough to cross examine a physician on it.
- The partner who teaches you to take apart a plaintiff’s expert will still be here when you’re good at it.
- Trial prep experience helps. Med mal experience is ideal. Close but not exact? Call me anyway.
If you’re a partner, up to $240,000
- You’ve taken med mal files to trial and run your own experts.
- You bring a portable book and want a national platform behind your clients.
- That platform gives you the bench depth to say yes when a client brings you something bigger.
- You come in with a partner title.
The work
- Defending hospital systems, physicians and their carriers. Every claim turns on the standard of care.
- Heavy reading, heavy detail. Your arguments have to survive a doctor’s scrutiny, not only opposing counsel’s.
The practical stuff
- 1,800 billable hours.
- Hybrid. You and the team decide how your week splits.
- Licensed in North Carolina, with two or more years of litigation experience.
Want the honest version before you apply?
- Call me, Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment, on 252 516 4403.
