About this opportunity
Commercial Real Estate Attorney | Senior Associate to Partner-Level | Raleigh, NC | $150,000 to $260,000
Every deal you close carries a quiet promise that nothing will go wrong. At this Raleigh firm, if something does go wrong, a nationally ranked real estate litigation team steps in to handle it.
I’m Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment. I’m hiring on behalf of a Raleigh law firm that wants an experienced commercial real estate attorney to build a practice, not just hit a billable target.
Four things worth knowing
- Your clients get a safety net most can only hope for. When a transaction turns into a dispute, you hand it to a nationally ranked litigation team down the hall. The client relationship stays yours.
- The billable target is 1,800 to 1,900 hours. That leaves real time for lunches, site visits and the calls that turn one deal into a client for life.
- Building a book is part of the job. The firm expects you to grow your own practice and supports you while you do it.
- The team works hybrid. You agree your split together from your first week.
The work
- Acquisitions and dispositions, with purchase and sale agreements that leave your client knowing exactly what they bought
- Real estate finance for lenders and borrowers, from first draft to closing set
- Development agreements, land use and zoning matters, where approvals and obligations have to hold for years
- Commercial leasing for landlords and tenants, including office, retail and industrial
- Title, survey and due diligence review
- Running the timeline: you set the checklist, and opposing counsel works to your schedule
Two levels, one range
- Nearer $150,000: you already run transactions on your own, and you want that independence to lead to clients with your name on them.
- Nearer $260,000: you bring established relationships or portable work and are ready to grow it on a stronger platform.
- The deals you run and the clients you bring decide where you land.
What you bring
- Around 3 years or more on complex commercial real estate transactions
- Admission to the North Carolina Bar, or eligibility
- Comfort owning a deal from term sheet to signature
- An appetite to build a practice. Existing relationships help, but hunger matters just as much
Based in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill or elsewhere in the Triangle? Or thinking of relocating from Charlotte, the Triad or out of state? I’d like to hear from you.
Rather talk it through before you hit apply? Everything is completely confidential. And if this role isn’t quite right, I’m working on other real estate opportunities across the Carolinas and can tell you about those too.
