Core Talent is partnered with an established owner and operator of shopping centers. The business takes a hands-on approach to property management, giving local teams direct access to senior leadership and the ability to make decisions quickly.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll oversee the day-to-day performance of a retail portfolio in the Chicago area. You’ll spend time on site walking the centers, meeting tenants, and following up with vendors to keep each property running well.

The role is focused on operations, budgets, and capital projects, with limited involvement in rent collection and accounting. You’ll work closely with regional property management, leasing, marketing, and accounting to improve how each center operates and serves its tenants and customers.

DUTIES

• Oversee property operations and conduct regular site walks to identify and resolve maintenance, safety, and service issues.
• Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, track variances, and control expenses.
• Help plan capital improvements and oversee approved projects from scope through completion.
• Manage vendor contracts and hold service providers accountable for quality, cost, and delivery.
• Build relationships with tenants and local stakeholders and identify practical ways to improve the shopping experience.
• Support leasing with on-the-ground insight into tenant performance, tenant mix, and customer activity.
• Ensure properties meet applicable legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements, and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

ABOUT YOU

• At least 3 years of retail property management experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Illinois Real Estate Salesperson license required.
• Experience managing operating budgets, controlling expenses, and overseeing capital projects.
• Confident managing vendors, working directly with tenants, and making sound decisions on site.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities across multiple properties.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with property management systems would be advantageous.
