About this opportunity
About Ampersand
Ampersand helps finance teams protect large cash deposits and earn more interest on them. We work with CFOs, controllers and business owners at companies of every kind, from manufacturing to law firms. Our buyers search for specific answers to high-stakes questions, and we want to be the answer when they do.
The role
We're looking for a freelance paid search specialist to set up and run our Google Ads account. You'll help us start the right way, with a clean account structure, accurate conversion tracking and a clear way to measure results and then manage the account each week using best practices. Once Google is performing, we plan to expand to other search platforms such as Microsoft Advertising, and we'd like you to help lead that too.
This isn't a set-it-and-forget-it job. We want a partner who works with our marketing team, understands who we're trying to reach and why, and tells us plainly what's working and what isn't. Our measure of success is qualified meetings, not clicks.
What you'll do:
Get us set up
- Build or audit our Google Ads account, including structure, settings, billing and access
- Work with our team to confirm conversion tracking works before any money is spent. That covers GA4, HubSpot forms and meeting requests, plus importing conversions into Google Ads.
- Complete Google's advertiser verification and any financial services requirements
- Research and build focused campaigns around high-intent searches, using tight match types and a negative keyword list from the start
- Work with us to write and test ad copy and assets within our compliance guidelines
- Make sure every campaign sends people to the right landing page
Run it well
- Optimize weekly: search terms, negative keywords, bids, budgets, ad rotation and testing
- Keep a simple change log so we always know what changed and why
- Report regularly on spend, conversions and cost per qualified meeting, with a clear recommendation on what to keep, cut or scale
- Suggest landing page improvements when the data points to them
- Keep us current on platform changes, new features and best practices that matter for a B2B financial services advertiser
- When the time is right, recommend whether and how to expand to other platforms
How we'll work together:
- We’ll work together on the strategy, the offer and the landing pages. You own building, managing and optimizing the account.
- You'll join regular check-ins with our marketing team, and our technical lead will support you on tracking and site changes.
- As a financial services company, our ads and landing pages go through compliance review, so expect required disclosures and careful wording.
What you bring:
- A few years of hands-on experience managing Google Ads accounts, with results you can show
- B2B lead generation experience. You've optimized for qualified leads or booked meetings, not just traffic or clicks.
- Strong conversion tracking skills: GA4, Google Tag Manager, offline or CRM conversion imports (HubSpot a plus)
- Comfort running a smaller, efficient budget, where precision matters more than volume
- Clear, plain-language communication and dependable reporting
Nice to have:
- Experience with Microsoft Advertising (Bing), including importing and tuning campaigns from Google
- Experience in financial services, fintech, banking or another regulated industry
- Experience getting through Google's financial services verification or advertiser policies
- Experience with LinkedIn Ads, or with coordinating search alongside paid social
- Familiarity with HubSpot
Compensation:
Pay is based on experience, availability and scope. Please include your rate or monthly pricing when you apply.
