D&O Mid-Level Associate

The New York office of Skarzynski Marick & Black LLP is seeking a talented associate with 3–5 years of experience in insurance coverage and/or securities litigation to join our nationally recognized D&O / Financial Institutions and Transactional Risk Insurance Coverage practices.

This role offers hands-on experience advising insurers, underwriters, and market participants primarily in transactional risk (R&W) and directors & officers (D&O) matters across the lifecycle of complex disputes and transactions. Associates work on sophisticated policy analysis, coverage opinions, underwriting and drafting issues, claims counseling, and, when necessary, high-profile insurance coverage litigation.

We are looking for ambitious, curious, and team-oriented attorneys with excellent writing skills, strong academic credentials, and a genuine interest in working at the intersection of corporate transactions, litigation, and insurance. Our New York office is located in a premier Class A building, and we work on a hybrid schedule that supports both collaboration and flexibility.

Salary range: $175,000–$190,000

About the Transactional Risk/Directors & Officers / Financial Institutions Liability Coverage Practices

Our attorneys are widely recognized as leaders in directors and officers, financial institutions, and transactional risk insurance, with experience dating back to the development of the first commercial D&O products.

We advise insurers on issues arising from:

• Transactional risk and representations & warranties insurance, including deal and claims analysis, loss evaluation, working closely with accounting and consulting experts, and monitoring some of the industry’s most complex and large exposure matters
• Complex securities, shareholder, derivative, and regulatory matters
• Coverage disputes at all stages, including mediation and litigation
• Underwriting strategy, policy drafting, and emerging coverage trends
