What You'll Do
You'll work across both sides of our practice. On the employer side, you'll counsel clients and draft and update handbooks, offer letters, policies, and employment and severance agreements, with partner support as you learn. On the employee side, you'll join consultations, draft demand letters and position statements, and build matters from the ground up.
You'll also handle litigation and mediation from intake through resolution, including legal research, pleadings, discovery, and document review, in court, before administrative agencies, and in mediations, which are a regular part of our practice.
You'll work closely with partners and support staff, with most matters staffed by two attorneys. As you build your foundation, you'll gradually take on your own consultations and matters, gaining responsibility for timelines, judgment calls, and when to involve a partner.
Who We're Looking For
We're open to a range of experience levels, including early career attorneys with a strong foundation and genuine interest in employment law. We're looking for someone who has passed the New York bar. Admission is ideal, but we're also glad to consider candidates awaiting admission or admitted elsewhere and eligible to waive into New York. You should have a demonstrated interest in employment law through work, coursework, CLEs, or a clear reason for wanting to build a career in the field, along with litigation exposure or the ability to ramp up quickly on litigation and civil procedure.
Direct employment law experience, especially NYC, New York State, and federal discrimination and wage and hour work, along with deposition experience, experience on both the employer and employee sides, or prior law firm experience are all pluses, not requirements. We're glad to train the right person. You write clearly, exercise good judgment, work well with clients, and know when to run with something and when to involve a partner.
Compensation
$105,000 to $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a discretionary year-end bonus.
