About this opportunity
BeautyMatter is hiring! We are looking for a contract journalist covering beauty finance and corporate strategy to own our coverage of how the largest beauty companies make money, deploy capital, and restructure.
You will report on and analyze quarterly results from the sector's largest players, including L'Oréal, Estée Lauder, Coty, Shiseido, LVMH, Puig, Unilever, P&G, Beiersdorf, e.l.f., and others. You will also be first to the deals, divestments, and leadership changes that redraw the competitive map. This is not a results-recap role. We want someone who can take a release and an earnings call and quickly connect the dots for our readers.
This is a 100% remote job you can do from anywhere, as long as you keep US market hours.
What you bring
- At least five years reporting on companies and markets for a top-tier financial outlet, such as Reuters, Bloomberg, the Financial Times, or a comparable newsroom.
- Fluency with financial statements, call transcripts, and investor presentations. You don't need a primer on like-for-like growth, adjusted EPS, or impairment charges.
- A working source network among sell-side analysts, bankers, investors, or industry executives, and the ability to get people on the phone the day results drop.
What we're not looking for
Product or lifestyle writers looking to move into business coverage. This role requires existing financial reporting experience.
The fee will be negotiated based on past experience.
