ABOUT GROH PLAYROOMS
Groh Playrooms is a DMV-area interior design studio specializing in playrooms and learning spaces — founded by educators who believe children's environments deserve the same design rigor as any other room in the home. We partner with families to create spaces that are as thoughtful and well-crafted as they are joyful.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Every week, families book a Playroom Planning Session with Groh and many take time after their session to decide what's next. This role owns that follow-through: every family who has had a session and hasn't yet purchased is yours to qualify, nurture, and bring to a decision. This is a sales role. You'll know every Groh service well enough to point a family to the right one, whether that's a Planning Session, a designed cart, or a Studio project, and you'll take Studio inquiry calls when the team needs coverage. As the first dedicated hire in this seat, you'll help shape how we sell as the showroom, trade, and builder programs come online.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Sales / Customer service
- Own the conversion of Planning Session bookings into purchases
- Work every open session on a structured follow-up cadence through to a decision
- Run short qualification calls and respond to inbound sales emails
- Own the pipeline in our CRM, Monday.com: set the focus, keep every lead's next step current, and keep the record true, working from the team's follow-up system
- Route every family to the right Groh service, leading with their need over the bigger-ticket option
- Manage customer service system to ensure customers are being taken care of and direct all sales inquiries appropriately
Cross-Sell & Coverage
- Take Studio inquiry calls as needed and sell the full range of Groh services
- Support trade and builder sales as those channels come online, closing deals rather than building the programs
- Take showroom appointments and sell at Groh events once the showroom opens (March 2027)
Build the Function
- Keep a weekly view of what's converting and what isn't, by source and by stage, so the team can see what's working
- Refine scripts, cadence, and the session offer with leadership as the data comes in
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- You own the conversion of Planning Session bookings into purchases. We'll set the specific target with you in your first weeks, against a real baseline, and adjust it as we learn, since this is a seat we're running for the first time.
- Every family who has had a session is followed up with and worked to a clear decision.
- A pipeline anyone on the team could read and pick up without additional context.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Required
- 3+ years in a sales role where you owned a number: bookings, conversion, or revenue and hit it
- Genuine warmth on the phone and in writing
- Fluency in a CRM (Monday.com or similar) and the discipline to keep it true
- Comfort running follow-up at volume without it ever feeling like pressure
- The ability to learn a product and service line cold within 30 days: we'll train you on Groh, you bring the habit
- Hybrid availability, including showroom days and occasional evening events in DC
Nice to Have
- Background in interior design, home goods, or a design-led consumer brand
- Experience selling in a showroom or appointment-based retail setting
- A reliable vehicle for DMV client visits and events
WHY GROH PLAYROOMS
- Real ownership over a growing sales function, with room to shape strategy from early on
- A revenue goal with a bonus for hitting it and more for beating it
- Health benefits, PTO, and 401(k): details shared during the interview process
- A tight-knit team that builds close relationships with each other and with the families we design for
- A studio driven by the next generation: kids are who we design for, and their sense of wonder shapes everything we make
- Work that stays genuinely fun: you'll spend your days surrounded by color, materials, and rooms built for imagination
