About this opportunity
Chief Investment Officer
Hussh · New York, NY · Full-time
Reports to: Founder & CEO · Chairs: the Investment Committee
One Chief Investment Officer owns the entire portfolio at Hussh: six flagship funds, one ETF, every quantitative strategy the firm runs — graded the Berkshire Hathaway way, researched the Renaissance way. Base salary $275,000–$375,000, a bonus tied to the funds' graded performance, and long-term ownership in the firm. If you have run a systematic investment program at scale and can also underwrite a business on its free cash flow, this seat was built for you.
The company
Hussh is two businesses with one mission: make information — above all, private personal information — a real financial asset for the human it belongs to, with the human in control of every machine, always.
The technology company builds private personal AI. The asset-management company runs permanent capital on one doctrine: own the world's fastest growers of absolute free cash flow, and grade every investment the way the Berkshire Hathaway Investment Committee would — on its cash flow, the growth of that cash flow, and the sustainability of that growth.
We started small, on purpose, the way Berkshire started with a textile mill and Renaissance started in a strip mall. We intend to compound for decades. This seat is how.
The seat
There is one Chief Investment Officer at Hussh, and the whole portfolio is theirs.
Six flagship funds — Fund A (Alphabets), Alohabets 27, Middle East Opportunity Income 27, China AI First Fund, Ultra AI, and SSH — plus one ETF product. Every quantitative strategy, every research program, every dollar of fund capital and the investment of the firm's own balance sheet. At BlackRock and Apollo this title fragmented by platform because it had to. Here it has not — yet. You are hired to hold it all, and to build the committee, the deputies, and the systems that let it scale past one person without ever losing one standard.
You will work with a founder who thinks like an investor. You will own the portfolio day to day.
The mandate
- Own every strategy. Set the investment philosophy, the research agenda, and the portfolio construction framework for all six funds and the ETF — systematic and fundamental alike. If a strategy exists at Hussh, it exists because you approved its evidence.
- Run the research engine like a laboratory. Our standard is Renaissance: scientists testing hypotheses against data, out-of-sample discipline, and a standing fear of the beautiful backtest. Hire mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and investors alike — and hold all of them to the same evidentiary bar.
- Allocate capital like an owner. Size strategies up and down on evidence, in writing, against rules set in advance. Every strategy is graded A–F on cash flow, its growth, and its sustainability. Capital follows the grades.
- Own risk. Set the firm's risk budgets, leverage and liquidity limits, and drawdown discipline. Risk is this seat's personal responsibility — never delegated to a compliance function, never discovered after the fact. No strategy is graded only by the person who runs it.
- Chair the Investment Committee. Run the process that approves, sizes, and retires strategies. Record the reasoning. Invert every major decision before it is made: what would have to be true for this to lose our investors' money?
- Build the team. Recruit, mentor, and promote the researchers, portfolio managers, and analysts who will one day hold pieces of this seat. Talent is a compounding asset; treat hiring as investing.
- Encode judgment into systems. Hussh runs as one human leadership team amplified by an operating system of AI agents. Your process — research review, grading, sizing, risk checks — will be executed daily by those systems. You are hired to make your judgment legible enough to be systematized, and to keep improving the system.
- Face the capital. Represent the investment program to allocators and partners with the founder. Plainly, with numbers, without theater.
What success looks like
Year one: every fund runs on one documented investment process; every strategy carries a current grade and a written thesis that would survive inversion; the research pipeline produces tested, out-of-sample-validated strategies at a steady cadence; risk reporting shows the whole portfolio on one page, every morning, and it is never a surprise.
Year three: the funds' record — graded on cash flow and its growth, through at least one full market drawdown — speaks for itself; a deputy structure exists that could run the portfolio for a month without you; Hussh is the firm scientists and investors name when asked where serious capital and serious research meet.
Who you are
- Fifteen or more years in investment management, with senior leadership of a systematic or quantitative program — you have owned a portfolio, a research organization, or both, at real scale.
- A track record that survives scrutiny across market cycles, stated in numbers you are prepared to defend line by line.
- Fluent in both literacies: you can run a research lab and underwrite a business on its free cash flow. Most candidates have one. This seat requires both.
- Deep command of portfolio construction, risk budgeting, and leverage — you have set the limits, not just worked inside someone else's.
- A builder of people: your former analysts and researchers run books of their own now.
- Temperament over brilliance: patient when the evidence is thin, decisive when it is not, and honest in writing about both.
- CFA or an advanced degree in a quantitative field is welcome; a demonstrated record matters more than either.
Compensation
Base salary $275,000–$375,000, a bonus tied to the funds' graded performance, and meaningful long-term ownership in the firm — owner-operator economics, structured so that you make money the way our investors and our founder do: by compounding, over years, in the same vehicles.
If you have run a research organization, tell us what you stopped doing, and why. Every serious application is read by a human.
