An employee-owned industrial and commercial general contractor in the NW suburbs is adding a Project Accountant. Every employee owns a piece of the company. The culture is people-first, the work is steady, and builds run from $5M to $30M+.
You will be the financial partner to a set of project teams. You own each job's numbers from setup to closeout: billing, job cost, cash, and compliance.
What you'll own
- Project setup in the accounting system, matched to owner and contract terms
- Monthly owner billing: pay apps (AIA G702/G703), schedules of values, sworn statements, lien waivers, and backup
- Job cost tracking and coding, with a sharp eye for trends and risk
- Receivables, retainage, and collections to keep cash flowing
- Monthly close support and WIP reporting, plus forecasting with PMs
- Subcontractor compliance: insurance, waivers, and contract docs
- Day-to-day partnership with PMs, subs, vendors, and owners
- Audit support and special projects
What you bring
- 2+ years of construction project accounting, ideally at a regional or national GC
- Hands-on pay apps, sworn statements, and lien waivers
- Strong grasp of job costing, retainage, and construction billing
- WIP and forecasting experience
- Strong Excel
- Clear communicator who keeps many deadlines moving
Nice to have
- Commercial or industrial construction background
- Viewpoint, CMiC, or Sage
- Textura or GCPay experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's in accounting, finance, or business
Details
- Onsite, Schaumburg area
- $75,000 to $90,000 base plus annual bonus
