We are working on behalf of a well-established small animal hospital in Catonsville, MD, that is seeking a Veterinary Medical Director to lead its team.
The hospital is evolving into a hybrid urgent care and general practice, offering same-day care for pets with urgent needs alongside routine wellness and preventive services. As Medical Director, you will play a central role in shaping that next chapter. You will guide clinical standards, mentor a skilled team of veterinarians and support staff, and help build out the growing general practice side of the hospital. Working closely with the practice manager and leadership team, you will set the direction for the hospital’s culture and medicine while still practising hands-on.
The hospital is rooted in its local community, serving Catonsville, Columbia, Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Baltimore, and the surrounding areas, while being backed by the resources of a large national veterinary network. That means a dedicated medical leadership program, one-to-one mentorship, free CE, and real operational support behind you. Compensation rewards leadership with a competitive base salary, a quarterly production bonus with no negative accrual, and a quarterly Medical Director stipend. About You:
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree
- Licensed in Maryland, or eligible, and in good standing before your start date
- Active DEA and Maryland CDS registration, or eligible to obtain them
- Ready to step into, or continue in, a medical leadership role
- A natural mentor who enjoys developing doctors and support staff
- Collaborative communicator who works well alongside practice management
