About this opportunity

ZMicro is hiring its first dedicated marketer in years, and this person will own marketing end to end. There is no team to inherit and no playbook to follow: you build it.

ZMicro builds the rugged computers that keep warfighters connected at the edge. Our servers, displays, storage and video-processing systems ride in aircraft, ground vehicles, ships and tactical operations centers for every U.S. military branch, SOCOM and NATO allies. Our hardware and service has earned its reputation in the field. Now we’re investing in marketing to match, and you’ll have the chance to build it your way. Your first project: our website.

This is a hands-on role for a builder. You'll do much of the work yourself, using AI tools to move at the speed of a small team, and you'll find smart, low-cost partners for anything you can't do in-house. If you've wanted to own a brand's marketing outright and see your work reach customers in weeks, not quarters, this is that job.

Your Priorities, In order:

1.     Modernize the website. This is priority one. Lead the WordPress refresh from content and information architecture through launch: a site that clearly explains what we build, who it's for and why it matters. Then keep it current.

2.     Build MARCOMM from the ground up. Tradeshows, presentations, partner co-marketing, brand standards and a steady flow of content. Includes winning and managing marketing development funds (MDF) and co-op dollars from strategic partners.

3.     Arm the sales team. Turn around datasheets, brochures, case studies and presentations quickly when sales needs them for a deal or event.

What you'll do:

Website and digital:

•       Own the WordPress website refresh: roadmap, information architecture, copy, visuals and launch, coordinating priorities and content with leadership, product, sales and engineering.

•       Manage the site after launch: product pages, news, SEO, analytics and lead-capture forms

•       Assess our current website vendors and recommend what to bring in-house versus keep outside for hosting, security, backups, custom development and support.

•       Use AI tools for copy, imagery, page builds and SEO, with human review for accuracy, brand quality and sensitive information.

•       Run LinkedIn, email and the content calendar, and grow an audience of operators, program managers and prime engineers.

MARCOMM, tradeshows and partners:

•       Shape the brand: sharpen ZMicro's messaging, identity and voice, and keep it consistent across every channel, booth and slide.

•       Tell the mission story through campaigns, video and content that show what our hardware does in the field and why it matters.

•       Own tradeshow marketing for shows like AUSA, Sea-Air-Space, G SOF, AFCEA WEST, DSEI and Eurosatory: booth messaging, graphics, collateral, partner promotions and presentations.

•       Coordinate joint marketing with technology partners such as Intel; identify, apply for, track and document MDF and co-op funding.

•       Support product launches for new servers, displays and storage: messaging, announcements and collateral

•       Write press releases, partner announcements and customer stories, and help adapt our story for international and allied markets.

•       Create and polish executive and customer-facing presentations.

Sales enablement

•       Produce datasheets, brochures, line cards, capability statements and proposal content on short timelines.

•       Partner with sales on targeted campaigns and pitch decks for prime contractors and program customers.

•       Interview engineers and product experts, turn complex specs into a mission-critical story rather than a spec sheet, and get technical review and approval before release.

•       Keep a library of current, approved product literature and templates that sales can find and use.

•       Track and report how marketing contributes to leads and pipeline.

Doing more with less:

•       Set and manage a lean marketing budget; measure what works and cut what doesn't.

•       Decide what to do in-house, what to automate with AI and what to hand to vendors or freelancers.

•       Find and manage cost-effective outside specialists (designers, photographers, printers, video, web developers) for work that's better outsourced.

What success looks like:

30 days: You will have learned our products, customers and partners; audited the current site and collateral; delivered a website plan and a first-year marketing plan.

90 days: New website in build or live; brand templates in place; at least two pieces of sales literature refreshed; partner MDF opportunities identified for the next show.

6 months: New website live and generating inbound leads; first co-funded tradeshow or partner presentation delivered; a current collateral library sales actually uses.

12 months: A repeatable marketing engine: steady content, a planned event calendar, partner funding offsetting event costs and clear reporting on leads and pipeline.

Who Your Are:

You love marketing and you'd rather build than maintain. You're comfortable being the only marketer in the room and you see that as an opportunity.

Required Skills and Experience:

•       4+ years in B2B marketing, ideally including time as a solo marketer or on a very small team

•       A portfolio of distinctive work (websites, campaigns, video, social or events) you can point to and say "I built that"

•       Hands-on WordPress experience (or a comparable CMS), including page building, content publishing and managing a website refresh

•       Strong storyteller and writer who learns technical products fast and translates engineers into plain English

•       Working design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or Figma) to produce professional collateral without waiting on a designer

•       Experience planning tradeshows or events and producing booth and presentation materials

•       Active, practical use of AI tools in your marketing work, with examples to show it and sound judgment about accuracy and confidentiality

•       Data discipline: comfortable with CRM, analytics and reporting results

•       Organized and fast: you can juggle a website project, an upcoming show and an urgent datasheet in the same week

•       U.S. person status and a commitment to the customer mission

Preferred Skills and Experience:

•       Marketing experience in defense, aerospace, government or deep-tech hardware

•       Experience with partner co-marketing, MDF or co-op programs

•       Experience with international or NATO markets

•       Video production or content-creator skills

•       Military service

Why Join Us:

•       Real ownership. T

he brand, the website and the marketing plan are yours to shape, with real latitude to be bold.

•       Visible impact. You'll work directly with sales, engineering and executive leadership, and your work will show up in deals and on the show floor.

•       Freedom to work in new ways. We actively support using AI to do more with a lean team.

•       A mission worth marketing. Hardware that keeps the people who defend us connected.

•       Room to grow. Expand the marketing function as the business grows.

•       Travel to major defense tradeshows in the U.S. and abroad

In a few sentences, tell us what you'd prioritize in your first 90 days and how you'd approach a WordPress website refresh with limited resources.
