About this opportunity
Medical Malpractice Defense Associate or Partner | Charlotte, NC | $135,000 to $240,000
- The plaintiff’s expert has testified more times than you’ve taken depositions.
- If you’re preparing to cross them with an old outline and nobody to rehearse with, you’re in the right practice and the wrong seat.
- On this Charlotte team, a partner sits beside you from day one. Usually it’s the same partner beside you at your first trial.
Who I’m recruiting for
- I’m Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment, hiring a medical malpractice defense attorney for a national firm’s Charlotte office.
- The team is growing. Its client work has expanded, and this seat exists to keep up with it.
- I know this group well. Ask me anything before you apply and I’ll give you a straight answer.
Why Charlotte matters here
- Charlotte is one of the largest healthcare hubs in the Southeast. Hospital systems, physician groups and their carriers all need defense counsel close by.
- That means a steady flow of serious med mal work, without relocating to find it.
The cases
- Defending hospital systems, physicians and their carriers. Every claim comes back to the standard of care.
- Serious time with medical experts. You’ll learn the medicine well enough to cross examine a physician on it.
- Heavy reading, heavy detail. Your arguments have to survive a doctor’s scrutiny as well as opposing counsel’s.
Two seats, one practice
- Associate, toward $135,000. A couple of years into litigation and ready to build real deposition, motion and expert skills. Trial prep experience helps. Med mal experience is ideal, but if you’re close, call me anyway.
- Partner, up to $240,000. You’ve taken med mal files to trial, run your own experts and bring a portable book. You join with a partner title and a national platform behind your clients, which gives you the bench depth to say yes to bigger matters.
The people
- People hardly ever leave this office. That says more than any website could.
- The partner who teaches you to dismantle a plaintiff’s expert will still be here when you’ve mastered it.
- National reach, with a Charlotte team small enough that you’ll know everyone by name.
- Openings here are rare. This is one.
The practical stuff
- 1,800 billable hours.
- Hybrid. You and the team decide how your week splits.
- Licensed in North Carolina, with two or more years of litigation experience.
How it works from here
- Our first conversation is confidential, with no pressure. It’s a chance to talk through the role and what you want from the next stage of your career.
- The firm normally runs two rounds of interviews.
- You’ll get constructive feedback, whatever the outcome.
