Nursery Paraprofessional

St. Theresa of Avila School serves students in Nursery – Grade 6 in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Nursery Paraprofessional is a full-time, onsite position. This role supports classroom teachers in an early childhood setting by assisting 15 month - 3 year old children with daily routines, learning activities, and classroom management. Responsibilities include helping implement age appropriate instructional activities, engaging children in play-based learning, and supporting social emotional development. The Nursery Paraprofessional helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment, assists with supervision during transitions, meals, and recess, and collaborates with faculty to monitor student progress. The role also involves preparing materials, supporting individualized student needs, and positively communicating with colleagues and families in alignment with the school’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Strong early childhood classroom support skills, including assisting with instruction, routines, and classroom management.
• Ability to foster social emotional growth, encourage positive behavior, and support inclusive practices for diverse learners.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with teachers, staff, and families.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, caring, and structured environment aligned with the school’s Catholic mission and values.
• Prior experience working with young children in a school, childcare, or similar setting preferred.
• High school diploma required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field strongly preferred.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, follow school policies, and support extracurricular and community activities as needed.
