About this opportunity
Litigation Partner, General Liability Defense | Tampa, FL | $200,000+ (negotiable on book) | General Liability Defense
Rainmakers get the headlines. In insurance defense, though, the partners clients fight to keep are often the ones who simply run cases beautifully: sensible reporting, accurate evaluations, trial results that match what was predicted. That kind of reputation is worth a great deal, whether or not it comes with a portable book attached.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a general liability partner for a Tampa insurance defense firm. A portable book is preferred, but it is not required. If you have one, it will be reflected in the offer. If you don't, the firm is still interested in a strong trial lawyer with a track record of handling GL files well.
The practice
• General liability defense: premises liability, negligent security, slip and fall, products and broader casualty claims
• Your own docket of serious, higher exposure files, plus first chair trial work
• Supervising and developing associates, and setting the strategy on cases from first report to verdict
• Building relationships with carriers and corporate clients, with support to grow them
What you bring
• Florida Bar membership and substantial insurance defense litigation experience
• A trial record and the confidence to lead a team on significant cases
• A portable book of business is a plus, not a must
• The kind of judgment clients come back for
How it works
• Hybrid, with the practice based in Tampa
• 1,900 billable hours a year
• Compensation from $200,000, negotiable depending on your book and experience
Why it's worth a look
Tampa is one of the busiest insurance defense markets in Florida, and a partner level hire is a chance to shape a team instead of inheriting one. That matters if you've spent years doing partner level work without partner level influence over who you hire, how cases are staffed or which clients you pursue. I'd like to hear what you'd do with that influence.
