About this opportunity
Litigation Attorney, Trucking and Transportation Defense | Tampa, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | Auto (Trucking and Transportation)
Interstate 4, a little after 2am. A tractor trailer and a pickup, a wet road and a lot of questions. By breakfast, the carrier wants someone who knows what to preserve, who to talk to and what the electronic logging device is going to say. The attorney who gets that call is trusted. The attorney who only sees the file six months later, once the complaint arrives, is doing a different job.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal from Distinct Recruitment. I'm hiring for a Tampa insurance defense firm that wants an experienced trucking and transportation lawyer in the first group, not the second.
The work
• Defending motor carriers, drivers, brokers and their insurers in serious injury and wrongful death claims
• Rapid response and early investigation: scene evidence, ELD and telematics data, dashcam footage, driver qualification files and hours of service records
• Depositions of drivers, safety directors, accident reconstructionists and medical experts
• Motion practice, mediations and trial, with first chair work for attorneys whose experience supports it
• Direct reporting to carriers and transportation clients
You
• Florida Bar member
• 2+ years of litigation experience in auto, trucking or general insurance defense
• Familiar with FMCSA regulations, or ready to become the person in the room who knows them best
• Experienced attorneys are a particular focus here. Counsel level and senior lawyers will find the files, the client contact and the trial calendar sized to match
The practical side
• Hybrid, with the team based in Tampa
• 1,950 billable hours a year
• $125,000 to $200,000, built broad so the offer fits the lawyer instead of forcing the lawyer to fit a band
Why move for this
Trucking cases are high exposure, which means clients care a great deal about who is handling them. That's good news for an attorney who wants responsibility early in a case and wants to be heard when strategy is decided. You'd be working beside lawyers who try these cases, on files where your evaluation shapes the outcome.
