Corporate Counsel

Our client, an established mortgage and financial services organization is seeking a versatile in-house attorney to provide broad legal support across business operations, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, and employment matters. This role partners with business leaders, Human Resources, and operational teams to assess legal risks, support business decisions, negotiate agreements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on commercial transactions, corporate governance, intellectual property, operational risk, and employment matters.
• Advise on mortgage origination and servicing, warehouse lending, banking operations, and applicable federal and state financial services regulations.
• Manage litigation, arbitrations, disputes, discovery, and outside counsel relationships, including settlement strategy.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, vendor agreements, leases, financing arrangements, and loan purchase and sale agreements.
• Support regulatory examinations, licensing, audits, consumer complaints, and compliance initiatives.
• Advise Human Resources on employment agreements, workplace policies, wage and hour issues, and employee disputes.
• Supervise and mentor paralegals and legal support personnel while overseeing workflow, quality, and performance.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission, with eligibility for Colorado licensure or applicable in-house counsel authorization.
• 1+ years of relevant legal experience; senior-level candidates should bring substantial in-house, corporate, financial services, or transactional experience.
• Knowledge of commercial contracting, litigation management, employment law, and financial services or mortgage regulatory compliance.
• Experience supervising legal support staff preferred.
• Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, communication, and risk-assessment skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities confidentially and independently.
