About this opportunity

The IATSE National Benefit Funds (“Funds”), located in New York City, are looking for an experienced Manager of Delinquencies, Collections and Payroll Audits to join their Finance Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and contributing to the financial strength of a large, mission-driven Taft-Hartley benefit fund organization. The position reports directly to the Director of Finance and requires a hybrid schedule, with regular time in the New York City office.

In this role, the Manager will lead the delinquency, collections, and payroll audit functions and help ensure that important financial processes are handled accurately, efficiently, and with strong service to participants, employers, leadership, and the Board. The Manager will oversee workflow, staff, financial reporting, billing delinquencies, collections, internal payroll audits, budget preparation, and the development of reports for internal leadership and Board presentations.

The Funds include the Pension, Annuity, Health & Welfare, and Vacation Funds and provide essential benefits to approximately 80,000 active entertainment industry members and their eligible dependents, as well as 2,600 retirees and beneficiaries. Collectively, the Funds hold more than $2.2 billion in assets and play an important role in supporting the people who help bring live theatre, film, television, commercials, music videos, and trade shows to life.

Established through collective bargaining with entertainment industry employers and employer associations, the Funds are multi-employer, ERISA trust funds. Funding generally comes from contributing employers in industries subject to collective bargaining agreements with the IATSE or IATSE-affiliated local unions. The Funds are governed by Boards of Trustees with equal representation from the IATSE (labor) and employers (management), reflecting a shared commitment to responsibly serving participants and their families.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee delinquency monitoring and collection activities, including coordination with Fund Counsel and the timely preparation and distribution of letters, notices, and other communications related to delinquent employer contributions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of participant and employer contribution inquiries.
  • Manage internal and external payroll audit activities and provide oversight of assigned auditors.
  • Ensure procedures and protocols are appropriate, well documented, consistently implemented, and regularly monitored.
  • Collaborate with management to refine procedures and protocols, streamline workflows, improve productivity, and maintain accuracy.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, motivation, and support to the Funds’ staff.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in collections, delinquencies, accounting, and payroll audits.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, sound judgment, and demonstrated ability to improve processes.
  • Strong presentation skills, including experience presenting in high-level leadership and Board meetings.
  • Prior experience with Taft-Hartley benefit funds preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, management, senior executives, employers, and local unions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong planning and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the technical aptitude to learn and use benefit administration systems.

The Funds offer a competitive salary range of $130,000 - $150,000 commensurate with experience, and a fully paid, comprehensive benefits package. The Funds are an affirmative action employer and encourage applications from all qualified candidates regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, or disability.
