About this opportunity
Civil Litigation Attorney | Manhattan, NY (Hybrid) – $275K
Location/Schedule: Manhattan, NY (Hybrid)
Base Salary: $275K
Practice: Commercial and civil litigation. Contract, shareholder, and business disputes in New York state and federal court. Not a volume premises docket.
Our client is a Manhattan litigation firm that staffs these cases lean. Associates argue motions and take depositions before they are senior. The pay is set to compete with large-firm mid-levels, without the large-firm hour expectation.
Why You Should Join:
- $275K Without the Large-Firm Year – Manhattan commercial litigation paid at a large-firm mid-level number. The hour expectation is not 2,000-plus, and you are not one of twelve associates on the file.
- You Argue the Motion, You Do Not Just Draft It – Dispositive motions and conferences are assigned to the associate on the case. Oral argument is part of the seat, not a partner-only event.
- Contract and Shareholder Disputes, Not Slip-and-Falls – The docket is business litigation. The exposure is real. You are not rotating through premises files to hit a number.
- Lean Staffing, So the Partner on the Case Is the Person You Deal With – No third layer. Client updates go out under your draft. That is how a book starts.
- Hybrid Around Court, Not Around Attendance – In for hearings, depositions, and clients. The other days are not a badge-swipe requirement.
What You’ll Actually Do:
- Litigate commercial and civil disputes in New York state and federal court.
- Draft and argue dispositive motions.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Prepare cases for mediation and trial.
Requirements:
- JD and active New York bar
- 4–8 years post-bar commercial or civil litigation — current Associate, Counsel, or Partner
- Depositions taken and a dispositive motion you drafted
No one fits every box perfectly - if you’re a practicing Civil Litigation attorney who wants $275K in Manhattan, let’s talk confidentially.
