About this opportunity

Akkodis is seeking Release Train Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Charlotte, NC - Hybrid (3 days on site in a Week). Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the financial services industry.

Pay: $88-90/hour – All Inclusive; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

About the role

We're looking for a seasoned Release Train Engineer to lead an Agile Release Train supporting a high-visibility treasury and cash management platform. This is a senior servant-leader role for someone who has done it before, at scale, under pressure.

You'll steady teams that don't always align, keep delivery moving against tight deadlines, and help the train scale as demand grows. Financial services experience is a plus but not required; what matters is a proven track record running ARTs in complex environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Facilitate all ART events: PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, system demos, Inspect & Adapt, and ART sync
  • Drive PI objectives and commitments across multiple agile teams, keeping delivery on track against firm deadlines
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve cross-team dependencies, risks, and impediments before they become blockers
  • Build alignment across teams with competing priorities; navigate conflict and resistance with credibility and tact
  • Partner with Product Management, System Architects, Business Owners, and senior leadership on priorities and capacity
  • Help scale the train: refine operating cadence, onboard new teams, and mature agile practices
  • Coach Scrum Masters and team leads on SAFe practices and continuous improvement
  • Track and report ART health and flow metrics (predictability, velocity, throughput) to stakeholders
  • Coordinate release planning and readiness with engineering, QA, and production support

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Release Train Engineer
  • 8+ years total in agile delivery, program management, or Scrum Master roles
  • Deep working knowledge of SAFe and its ART events
  • Proven success leading multiple teams (typically 5–12) on one train
  • Track record delivering under tight, fixed deadlines in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Strong facilitation and conflict-resolution skills; comfortable influencing without direct authority
  • Experience scaling an ART or onboarding new teams to a train
  • Proficiency with Jira, Jira Align, Rally, or similar agile tooling
  • Excellent communication with both engineers and senior executives
  • Must currently live in the Charlotte, NC area

Nice to have

  • SAFe RTE certification (SAFe Release Train Engineer); SPC a plus
  • Financial services, payments, or treasury platform experience
  • Experience in regulated environments with change-management controls
  • Background in a technical delivery or engineering role
