About the Opportunity
LEAN Safety Group is partnering with a well-established, highly respected General Contractor seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to support ongoing operations throughout the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region.
This is not a short-term project assignment. Our client is looking for a long-term addition to their organization—someone who wants to establish roots, build meaningful relationships, and grow professionally within a company that genuinely invests in its people.
The organization is recognized for its family-first culture, exceptional employee benefits, competitive retirement programs, and commitment to internal career advancement.
For the right professional, this is an opportunity to join a company where you can build a lasting career, take on increasing responsibility, and potentially retire with the organization.
Position Overview
The Safety Manager will play a critical role in supporting construction operations, promoting a proactive safety culture, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations and company expectations.
The ideal candidate is a field-oriented safety professional who understands construction operations, communicates effectively with project leadership, and approaches safety as a collaborative partnership with operations rather than simply an enforcement function.
We are looking for someone who can earn the respect of field personnel, build relationships with project teams, and positively influence safety performance across construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support construction safety activities across assigned projects in the DMV region.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct regular field inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
- Work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and subcontractors to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective project-specific safety programs and procedures.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, orientations, and employee training.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Review high-risk construction activities and provide guidance on appropriate safety controls.
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure alignment with established project expectations.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.
- Serve as a trusted safety resource to project leadership while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably supporting General Contractor operations.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926).
- Demonstrated ability to manage safety initiatives on active construction projects.
- Experience working directly with construction management, field supervision, and subcontractors.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to independently identify hazards, develop practical solutions, and follow corrective actions through completion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be located within the DMV region or have an established local presence.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 500 – Highly Preferred
- BCSP Certification (CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent) – Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Safety, or a related field.
- Previous experience supporting large-scale commercial construction projects.
- Experience implementing and maintaining safety management systems within a General Contractor environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Our client offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package designed to attract and retain long-term employees.
Benefits include:
- Competitive base salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Comprehensive employee benefits package.
- Strong retirement and long-term financial benefits.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
- Supportive, family-oriented company culture.
- Long-term employment stability with an established General Contractor.
This organization places significant value on employee retention, professional development, and promoting from within.
Who We're Looking For:
We are not simply looking for someone who can conduct inspections or quote OSHA regulations.
We are looking for a professional who understands how construction actually works, knows how to engage field personnel, and has the ability to build credibility with operations.
The right individual will be confident without being confrontational, proactive rather than reactive, and genuinely interested in becoming a long-term part of the organization.
If you are an experienced construction safety professional in the DMV area who values stability, company culture, and the opportunity to grow with an organization that invests in its employees, we would like to hear from you.
