About this opportunity
Now Hiring: Traveling / Regional Installation Technician
We are seeking a hands-on Traveling / Regional Installation Technician to install, configure, test, and commission commercial security solutions at customer sites across an assigned region and, when needed, nationwide.
This is a travel-intensive, field-based position for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, works well independently, and is committed to completing installations safely and correctly the first time. This is not a people-management role.
What You’ll Do
- Install, aim, secure, and label IP cameras, mounting systems, poles, enclosures, network video equipment, and related security devices
- Pull, terminate, test, dress, and label low-voltage cabling
- Install conduit, raceways, junction boxes, cable supports, PoE switches, UPS equipment, and approved network components
- Review drawings, scopes of work, site-access requirements, equipment lists, and safety expectations before each deployment
- Verify device power, network connectivity, camera focus, field of view, image quality, recording, alerts, and overall system performance
- Partner with remote provisioning and technical support teams to commission systems and resolve installation issues
- Track materials, serial numbers, returns, unused inventory, labor, and travel time
- Submit accurate job notes, labeled photos, test results, device locations, and as-built changes in the designated field-service system
- Communicate daily progress, access constraints, safety concerns, and potential schedule impacts to project managers and customer contacts
- Maintain safe, clean, and professional customer sites while following OSHA requirements, applicable low-voltage codes, and customer safety policies
- Travel regionally and nationally, including recurring overnight stays and occasional extended assignments
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years of hands-on commercial low-voltage, security camera, structured cabling, telecommunications, or similar installation experience
- Ability to pull and terminate cable, install equipment, and safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment
- Working knowledge of IP networking and PoE fundamentals
- Ability to read site plans, installation diagrams, scopes of work, and equipment schedules
- Strong documentation skills, including digital job notes and installation photos
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding fieldwork, climb ladders, work at heights when trained, and lift or carry equipment safely
- Strong attendance, communication, customer service, organization, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
Experience with VMS platforms, NVRs, VLANs, network switches, wireless bridges, outdoor security equipment, camera configuration, two-way audio, or field-service management platforms is preferred. OSHA training, lift certification, BICSI training, manufacturer credentials, or other low-voltage certifications are also a plus.
The ideal technician is travel-ready, safety-focused, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of an installation from arrival through testing and closeout.
