About this opportunity
About Po Campo
Po Campo makes stylish, sustainable bike bags designed with women, and their families, in mind. Industrial designer Maria Boustead founded the company in 2009 after she couldn’t find a bag versatile enough for her bike commute and stylish enough to carry throughout her day. Today we have a full line of bike bags for every ride from gravel to city commutes to weekend spins with family and friends. True to the original vision, many of our bags uniquely convert into a crossbody bag, tote or backpack off the bike. Each bag is made with recycled, waterproof fabrics, has lots of pockets, and comes in trending colors and prints. We’ve earned thousands of five-star reviews and recent top-pick mentions in major press, including Bicycling Magazine and The New York Times Wirecutter.
We meet our customers where they are by selling direct-to-consumer on pocampo.com, on Amazon, and through our dealers, primarily in the bike and outdoor channels. We’re on a mission to get more women riding more often, one bag at a time.
The Role
Po Campo launched in wholesale and we’ve taken it seriously from day one. Now we’re in more than 150 doors across North America, including REI, where our sales have increased 23% year over year, and regional chains like Erik’s Bike and Ski. Wholesale has grown an average of 34% a year, and our collabs with organizations like Terry Cycling and League of American Bicyclists have driven partnership revenue up 130% over last year.
As our Sales & Partnerships Manager, you own Po Campo’s wholesale and partnership revenue and profitability, with the goal of doubling revenue over the next three years. You’re stepping into a business with a strong foundation of established accounts, an existing network of sales reps and distributors, and processes that already work. We’re looking for a strategic thinker who will take our current plan, make it their own, and sharpen it over time with an eye on where our industry is heading.
You'll report to the Founder and CEO, with regular check-ins on progress toward your goals, and work closely with our Operations Manager to ensure inventory is aligned with orders and forecasts, and have support from our marketing team on wholesale campaigns and shows.
What You'll Do
- Own the wholesale number. Be accountable for wholesale revenue and profit across accounts of every size, with a strong focus on opening new doors, while also managing existing account relationships directly and alongside our sales team.
- Help steer the business. Serve as an active member of our leadership team, providing input into overall business strategy and execution through a B2B lens.
- Lead and grow our sales team. Support our reps and distributors, and build the team over time as our needs grow.
- Develop partnerships. Win the partnership and collab opportunities that arise organically, and bring ideas for new ones that generate profitable orders and help both sides grow.
- Oversee wholesale marketing. Shape our wholesale programs, seasonal promotions, and trade events calendar to hit our sales and profit goals, building on what’s in place with support from our marketing team
- Forecast and report. Forecast wholesale revenue and margin, track results against the plan, and adjust course as needed to hit our goals.
- Keep wholesale running smoothly. Oversee wholesale operations with support from admin, keeping timelines and deadlines on track.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of wholesale or B2B sales experience in consumer products, at a brand or a sales agency, selling to retailers of every size, from small independent shops to large specialty stores, with a record of growing accounts and hitting or exceeding sales targets.
- A background in the bike or outdoor industry: you know its seasonal buying cycles and the key brands, retailers, reps and distributors.
- Experience leading independent, self-directed people, keeping them engaged and accountable.
- Small-business tested: you’ve thrived with no big team to lean on, and you’re resourceful and can-do, ready to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
- Relentless, in a good way: you pursue every opportunity to hit your number because it helps our accounts and partners succeed too.
- A head for numbers: you can translate a growth plan into what it means for sales and inventory, and track results against it.
- Strategic and brand-savvy: you think creatively about how to reach the target, spot trends and opportunities early, turn ideas into a plan, and know which ones are right for Po Campo.
- At home in a tech stack: you pick up new tools quickly, whether a CRM, project management, messaging or AI tools, and use them to keep people informed and work moving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and the self-direction to take initiative and follow through on your commitments in a remote team.
Bonus Points
- You have proven, current relationships with buyers in the bike and bike accessories categories.
- Experience developing custom, co-branded or corporate gift programs.
- An understanding of how direct-to-consumer, Amazon and wholesale each work and complement each other.
- Comfortable using AI to streamline administrative and repetitive work, so more of your time goes to selling.
Who Will Thrive Here
You'd be the sixth member of a fully remote team that works closely together, even though many of us are part-time. We take our culture seriously, and there's a reason people stay for years. You'll fit right in if you share our values:
- Teamwork and shared prosperity. We care about the whole outcome, not just our own lane, respect each other's strengths, and build relationships with customers, partners and reps where everyone wins.
- Accountability and integrity. We take ownership of our work and pride in it, follow through without being chased, and are honest with each other, our customers and our partners.
- Curious and courageous. We push ourselves to keep learning and growing, try new things with purpose, and enjoy the ride.
Details
- Hours: 15-20 hours a week, flexible to the work, with room to grow into a full-time role as sales increase.
