About this opportunity
Do you love tearing down hardware to figure out exactly why it failed?
Our Nidec Mobility America Quality team in St. Charles, IL is looking for an Electronics Technician (Warranty Lab) to lead physical failure investigations on automotive electronic assemblies.
In this role, you won’t just run basic pass/fail tests—you will investigate root causes on parts returned from assembly plants and dealerships. You will evaluate ECUs, build test fixtures, run X-ray inspections, and verify whether a field failure is an assembly defect, design issue, or a "No Trouble Found" misdiagnosis.
Your toolkit will include:
- Bench diagnostic equipment: oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and bench power supplies.
- Advanced inspection systems: industrial X-ray, cross-sectioning, and solder joint analysis.
- Data platforms: OEM portals (GM SupplyPower, Ford AWS, Honda Q-Web) and Excel trend modeling.
What You Bring:
- 3+ years troubleshooting analog/digital circuits down to the component level.
- Strong schematic-reading capability and familiarity with automotive micro-controller-based embedded systems.
- Practical lab experience building load boxes, wiring harnesses, and test setups.
- Familiarity with Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, 8D problem-solving) is a major plus.
If you enjoy detective work at the circuit board level, we want to hear from you!
