Reporting directly to the President, the SVP of Finance will serve as the organization's senior financial executive and strategic advisor, providing leadership across financial strategy, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, grants, compliance, and long-term financial sustainability. The ideal candidate is more than an accomplished finance professional. We're looking for a forward-thinking leader who embraces innovation, leverages emerging technologies, including AI where appropriate, and can translate complex financial information into actionable strategies that drive organizational success.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the President, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors.
  • Lead financial strategy, long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, capital allocation, and financial sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury, cash flow, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Direct financial management across multiple entities, subsidiaries, and affiliated organizations.
  • Provide financial oversight for government grants, restricted funding, cost allocations, and compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Develop financial models, dashboards, and meaningful reporting to support executive decision-making.
  • Evaluate major initiatives, investments, partnerships, and capital projects, providing strategic financial recommendations.
  • Lead annual audits, tax reporting, risk management, and financial governance.
  • Modernize financial operations through technology, automation, AI-enabled solutions where appropriate, and continuous process improvement.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team while promoting accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years leading finance teams at a senior or executive level.
  • Proven ability to serve as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership and Boards of Directors.
  • Strong background in financial planning, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and risk management.
  • Experience with nonprofit financial management, government grants, restricted funding, and federal compliance requirements, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
  • Experience overseeing financial operations across multiple legal entities, including consolidated reporting and intercompany accounting.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or comparable multi-entity ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated success improving financial processes, implementing technology, and driving organizational efficiencies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A visionary, innovative mindset with an interest in leveraging emerging technologies to improve financial operations and organizational performance.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $120,000- 140,000 annually DOE
  • Executive-level leadership opportunity reporting directly to the President.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with optional remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the economic growth and future of Central New York.
  • Collaborative, mission-driven environment with significant executive and Board visibility.

If you're an accomplished financial leader who combines technical expertise with strategic vision, innovation, and a passion for making a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
