Revenue and Business Operations Manager (Gilbert, AZ)

Location: Gilbert, AZ (Phoenix metro candidates only)

PayGround is hiring a Revenue and Business Operations Manager to own billing, accounts receivable, and the business operations that keep our company running. You'll report directly to the VP of Finance and work alongside our Accounting Manager.

This role is for someone who sees a messy process and wants to fix it. We're a lean team at a fast-growing company. There's no handbook for most of what you'll do, and you'll help write it. If you like clear structure and well-defined lanes, this probably isn't the right fit. If you like ownership, wearing several hats, and seeing your work matter, keep reading.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

In person 4 days a week for your first 10 weeks while you ramp up with the team. After that, the role is primarily remote, with a few in-person team meetups each month in the Gilbert area. Do not apply if you do not live in Arizona. If you plan to relocate (no relocation assistance will be provided) please provide a cover letter stating as much.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Billing and Revenue Operations

• Own full cycle billing: create, validate, and send invoices, both manual and automated (with Dev support)
• Run pricing audits to ensure billing accuracy, implement price increases, and partner with Sales to make sure pricing is documented
• Verify client payments, follow up on open balances, and drive down aging
• Own the AR inbox and client billing communications
• Become the subject matter expert on our billing platform, and lead the migration to our new tool

Accounting and Close

• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations supporting revenue and AR
• Support month-end close and prepare schedules for the annual audit
• Calculate revenue share, affiliate commissions, and internal sales commissions

Business Operations

• Payroll and benefits administration through our HR and payroll platform, including onboarding, changes, invoice reconciliation, and state tax registrations for remote employees
• Manage vendor relationships across payment processors, payroll and benefits providers, and general business vendors, serving as the go-between for third parties and the exec team

Analysis and Reporting

• Track and report KPIs, including margin by customer
• Provide financial analysis that supports leadership decisions
• Use AI tools and automation to find and fix inefficiencies across billing, collections, and operations

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We hire for drive and intelligence first. We'll invest in teaching you what you don't know yet.

Required

• 4+ years of experience, including full cycle billing and revenue operations
• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field
• A self-starter who takes initiative without waiting to be told
• Curious about AI and eager to use it in your work. Bonus points if you've already used tools like Claude or ChatGPT to automate tasks, build workflows, or speed up analysis.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort learning new systems
• Sharp attention to detail
• Clear communicator who works well with vendors, teammates, and executives

Plus experience in at least two of the following

• Payroll and benefits administration, including multi-state payroll tax registrations
• HR administration or business compliance
• General accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Account management, including handling customer billing questions, account changes, and renewals
• KPI tracking, financial analysis, and reporting

We don't expect anyone to have done all of it. If you've owned billing and worn a few of these other hats, we want to hear from you.

Nice to Have

• Experience in healthcare (medical billing, practice management, revenue cycle), payments (merchant services, processing fees, interchange), or SaaS
• Experience at a startup or small company where you covered several functions
