Role: Akamai Engineer

Contract

NYC, NY/Alpharetta, GA (Day 1, Onsite, Hybrid).

Job Description:

• Lead application onboarding and migration to Akamai WAF, from monitoring mode to blocking/deny mode.
• Configure and tune WAF policies to minimize false positives while maintaining strong security.
• Analyze WAF events, security alerts, and attack patterns to identify malicious traffic.
• Troubleshoot WAF-related application issues, traffic routing, load balancers, latency, and production outages.
• Support API Security, Bot Manager, DDoS Protection, and Client Reputation controls.
• Collaborate with application, network, DNS, firewall, and QA teams for testing, deployment, and traffic cutovers.
• Conduct periodic security reviews, WAF upgrades, and policy optimization.
• Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation of security issues.
• Advise application teams on OWASP protections, secure web architecture, and API security.

Preferred Skills:

• AI/LLM Security and Akamai Firewall for AI.
• Enterprise-scale WAF migration experience.
• Financial services experience.
