About this opportunity
My client, a leading trading firm is hiring a Senior Linux Engineer to help shape the infrastructure supporting its trading and development teams. You’ll join an established engineering team responsible for a substantial Linux estate, with ownership across performance, reliability and how systems are deployed and managed.
Working directly with the engineers and trading teams, you’ll investigate complex systems issues, improve performance and build automation that makes the environment more consistent and easier to scale. There’s scope to influence hardware and software choices, improve deployment tooling and take projects from design through production.
Requirements
- Extensive Linux engineering experience across large-scale, highly available server environments.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash or another language for automation and systems tooling.
- Experience diagnosing Linux performance issues across CPU, memory, storage and networking.
- Experience with repeatable server provisioning, software packaging, repository management and monitoring.
- Solid understanding of networking, routing, multicast and core infrastructure services
- Background supporting latency-sensitive workloads in a trading environment
- Familiarity with virtualization, private cloud or container platforms would be useful.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys getting deep into Linux performance tuning, solving difficult trading infrastructure problems and finding better ways to automate and operate systems at scale.
The role can be based out of their Chicago or New York office with highly competitive compensation for strong candidates.
