Location: Mason, OH (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Duration: Through December 31, 2026 (Extension in process for 2027)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Linux & Middleware Administrator to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux environments and Java-based applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), JBoss EAP, Apache HTTP Server, and Java application support.

The role involves supporting middleware configurations, application deployments, production troubleshooting, and infrastructure connectivity while working closely with Development, DevOps, Network, Security, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Linux & Middleware Administration

• Administer, maintain, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux servers, preferably RHEL.
• Install, configure, and support Apache HTTP Server, NGINX, Docker, and Red Hat JBoss EAP.
• Manage JBoss configurations, JVM settings, application deployments, data sources, certificates, logging, and clustering.
• Analyze system and application logs to identify performance and connectivity issues.
• Support SSL/TLS certificates, keystores, and truststores.

Java Application Support

• Troubleshoot Java/Jakarta EE applications by reviewing application logs, stack traces, configuration files, and basic Java code.
• Diagnose JVM memory, thread, garbage collection, connection pool, and application dependency issues.
• Collaborate with development teams to resolve application and middleware-related problems.

Build & Deployment Support

• Support application builds and deployments across development, testing, and production environments.
• Troubleshoot deployment failures, configuration issues, dependencies, and environment differences.
• Work with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build and deployment processes.
• Partner with Development and DevOps teams to improve deployment reliability.

Networking & Infrastructure Support

• Understand TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, ports, load balancing, SSL/TLS, NAT, and VPN connectivity.
• Coordinate network requests involving VIPs, load balancers, firewall rules, and site-to-site VPNs.
• Troubleshoot connectivity using tools such as curl, openssl, nslookup/dig, traceroute, and Linux networking utilities.
• Work with Network and Security teams to resolve infrastructure connectivity issues.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Linux systems administration or enterprise infrastructure experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with RHEL or comparable Linux distributions.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting Apache HTTP Server and Red Hat JBoss EAP.
• Working knowledge of Java/Jakarta EE applications and JVM troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting application builds, deployments, and production environments.
• Understanding of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes.
• Strong networking fundamentals and application connectivity troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot across application, middleware, operating system, database connectivity, and network layers.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Jira for incident, change, and problem management.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
• Experience supporting highly available, business-critical applications.
• Knowledge of F5 BIG-IP load balancers.
• Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar monitoring/APM tools.
• Experience supporting Oracle database integrations.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Prior Java application development experience is an advantage.
