DevOps Technical Communication Specialist

A capable engineer may understand the tools yet struggle to explain an architecture decision, communicate during an incident, or present their work with clarity and confidence. For our 16-week DevOps Work Readiness Program, we’re seeking an experienced DevOps practitioner who can also coach emerging engineers in technical communication.

What you will bring

1. At least 7 years of relevant industry experience, including substantial hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering.
2. Experience at major US technology companies recognized for engineering excellence, such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Apple, NVIDIA, or comparable organizations.
3. Practical fluency in the terminology and workflows of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers, orchestration, observability, and incident management.
4. Excellent spoken English, with the ability to explain complex technical work accurately to different audiences.
5. Experience reviewing architecture documents, runbooks, deployment plans, incident updates, and postmortems.
6. Strong mentoring or training skills, including the ability to diagnose communication weaknesses and provide specific, actionable feedback.

We want to understand what you built, how you communicated it, and how you helped others become more effective technical communicators.

What you will do

• Help participants use DevOps terminology accurately and naturally.

• Coach them to explain architecture, deployment decisions, operational risks, and reliability tradeoffs.

• Develop practical exercises around real workplace situations: presenting a cloud design, handing over a service, explaining a failed deployment, or briefing colleagues during an outage.

• Help participants write clear, usable technical documentation.

• Strengthen their ability to present projects, answer technical interview questions, and respond confidently to follow-up questions.

• Give individualized feedback that improves clarity, precision, structure, and technical credibility.

Commitment: Two groups of eight participants, with one 90-minute live session per group every two weeks for 16 weeks.
