Our team members must have a “whatever it takes” mindset, show up every day with a passion for excellence, and focus on building internal and external relationships. VP Logistics was originally founded in 2009 as an in-house transportation provider for Visual Pak, a leading contract manufacturing and packaging partner to multiple fortune 500 brands. VPL has since grown into a premier, national 3PL with capabilities across most transportation modes and industries. We take great pride in our obsession to be strategic partners with our customers and carriers, as well as our reputation and unwavering commitment to excellence. Our people are our greatest asset and the driving force behind our continuous growth.

Job Summary:

The TMS & Integrations Specialist is responsible for the TMS (McLeod) and its EDI and API integrations, keeping the platform running smoothly and improving how it supports our operations, reporting, billing and settlements.

Our Technology department exists to Run (keep people working), Optimize (help them work smarter) and Build (find new ways to work). This role focuses on the performance of the platform and fixing issues, turns user requests into configurations and improvements, and supports regular reviews to scale what works, improve what has potential and move on from what isn't a fit.

Like everyone on the team, this role experiments with AI to cut manual work and measure the results. It partners with the Technology Adoption Specialist on user needs and training, with the IT Systems Specialist and Accounting on integrations, and reports to the VP of Technology.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for McLeod administration, including user access, security roles, configuration and scheduled processes, improvements and reporting.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for internal TMS (McLeod) support requests, troubleshooting user issues, communicating resolution status, and coordinating with McLeod’s Support team when necessary.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot McLeod services and connected data flows using documented diagnostic and recovery procedures.
  • Manage EDI and API connections between McLeod and various third-party applications, including partner onboarding, mapping, configuration, testing and ongoing support.
  • Lead McLeod-side integration troubleshooting, coordinate application-side work with the IT Systems Specialist and assign a clear lead for each integration issue or change.
  • Partner with Accounting on billing, settlement and reconciliation issues originating in McLeod or its integrations.
  • Translate requests from the Technology Adoption Specialist and Operations teams into technical changes, favoring maintainable configuration where it meets the need.
  • Plan and coordinate upgrades, configuration changes and customizations, including end-to-end testing with users and Accounting and documented recovery plans.
  • Identify and implement McLeod and integration improvements that reduce manual work, data errors, and recurring support needs.
  • Experiment with AI to reduce manual work and improve results: find use cases, test with the team, share what works, and measure the impact.
  • In this role, support AI pilots and integrations involving McLeod by assessing technical feasibility, configuring connections, and validating data accuracy before broader rollout.
  • Cross-train the IT Systems Specialist on ticket coverage and integration troubleshooting, and provide general IT backup support as needed.
  • Cross-train with the Technology Adoption Specialist on McLeod training, user needs and technical validation, including technical documentation and demonstrations for training materials.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • McLeod ticket response and resolution against agreed priorities.
  • Integration uptime, failed transaction rates, and time to recovery.
  • Fewer recurring issues and manual data corrections; upgrades and changes delivered tested and on schedule.
  • AI or automation use cases tested, with measured impact on manual work.
  • Configuration and integration documentation kept current; cross-training completed within the department.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • None.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on McLeod PowerBroker administration or support experience.
  • 2+ years supporting freight brokerage or 3PL workflows.
  • Experience with McLeod accounting workflows, upgrades and testing custom modifications.
  • SQL skills for troubleshooting and validating data preferred.
  • Experience with common freight EDI transactions (204, 210, 214, and 990) and integration providers such as BitFreighter preferred.
  • API development, scripting or workflow automation experience preferred.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of EDI and API integrations, including troubleshooting TMS connections with external providers.
  • Experience supporting system changes, user testing, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
