Professional Liability Defense Attorney | Hybrid, San Fernando Valley | $150,000 to $240,000
Representing a lawyer is a bit like giving a dentist a filling. They've told a thousand people it won't hurt, and now it's their turn to find out.
That's the job here. This is a defense firm in the San Fernando Valley whose clients are attorneys who've been sued, mostly for legal malpractice, and right now it's winning new clients faster than it can hire people to look after them. Your clients will read every draft you send more closely than the judge will, and some of them will have opinions about your citations. You'll get used to it, and you'll get very good.
What you'd be doing:
- Running legal malpractice and professional liability files from the first letter to resolution
- Depositions, written discovery and law and motion, where lawyers are the clients and sometimes the witnesses
- Talking a worried attorney through what happens next, which is half the job
One of the good things about this one is who's running it. The managing partner joined as an associate and never left, so the route up is real.
They'll look at anyone from a young associate to someone far more senior. It's hybrid, and the less experience you have the more they'll want you in the office while you learn. The hours are on the busy side. Full benefits and a 401(k), and first interviews are on Zoom or Teams.
