About this opportunity
Insurance Defense Attorney (Junior) | Greater Philadelphia, PA (Malvern) | 2 to 5 yrs | $125,000 to $150,000 | General Liability & Coverage
Billables around 1,800, real family flexibility and early courtroom exposure. For a junior defense attorney who wants to grow as a litigator without giving up life outside work, this Malvern role gets the balance right.
Many firms ask for 1,950 hours or more. This firm keeps targets realistic and still gets its junior attorneys into depositions and court early.
The work
- General liability defense from intake to resolution
- Insurance coverage analysis and coverage litigation
- Taking and defending depositions
- Motion practice and court appearances
- Regular contact with carrier clients
What I’m looking for
- Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar
- 2 to 5 years of insurance defense, coverage or civil litigation
- Strong writing and attention to detail
How the mentoring works
Senior attorneys review your work, explain the thinking behind case and coverage strategy, and prepare you before your first big depositions.
How the role scales
Junior attorneys build both defense and coverage skills. As you progress, you handle larger files independently. The salary range reflects that.
Why the coverage work matters
Doing both GL defense and coverage gives you a broader skill set than most defense associates have. Carriers value that, and it keeps your career options open.
Pace and flexibility
The office runs hybrid. School runs and family commitments are respected, not just tolerated, and the suburban location means an easier commute.
Why move
Early courtroom experience, a broader practice and hours that leave room for life.
