Underwriter

Our well-established client has created a new role for an entry-level underwriter with their well-tenured team in the Metairie area. They are looking for a recent or soon to graduate Finance or Business Major with an internship in a professional setting and/or the desire to start a career opportunity in the insurance industry. This role is in office daily in Metairie, LA and only candidates living in daily commutable distance of their location will be considered for the role.

Training opportunities:

• Risk Evaluation: Analyze application forms, financial records, credit reports, and history to determine applicant risk.
• Documentation & Verification: Cross-check required documents, public records, and disclosures for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Data Processing: Input data into automated underwriting systems and review software-generated risk recommendations.
• Communication: Coordinate with sales agents, brokers, financial institutions, or medical staff to gather missing details.
• Policy Guidance: Assist senior underwriters in calculating basic premiums, setting coverage limits, and tracking case files.

Job Requirements:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in finance, business or a related field.
• Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis, attention to detail, basic probability/math skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office or enterprise software.
