Empower Staffing is partnering with a fast-growing artificial intelligence company that’s changing how businesses handle indirect tax. They’re looking for a sharp Sales & Use Tax professional to bring real-world, multistate expertise to their product team. This isn’t a compliance seat. You’ll help design, train, and shape AI software used by tax teams across the country.

If you’ve spent your career in Big 4 knowing exactly where tax technology falls short, this is your chance to build the version that gets it right.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the go-to sales and use tax expert for product, engineering, and data science teams
• Translate complex multistate tax rules (nexus, taxability, sourcing, exemptions, marketplace facilitator laws) into logic the AI can learn and apply
• Review and validate AI outputs for accuracy, and help define what “right” looks like
• Build test cases, edge-case scenarios, and training data from real-world fact patterns
• Track legislative and regulatory changes across states and turn them into product updates
• Help shape the product roadmap based on what tax departments actually need
• Represent the voice of the tax professional in customer conversations and demos

What You Bring

• Active CPA license
• Big 4 experience in State and Local Tax (SALT), with a focus on sales and use tax
• 5+ years of sales and use tax experience
• Deep multistate knowledge, including nexus studies, taxability research, VDAs, audit defense, and compliance
