Description:
Hirewell is partnering with a national commercial general contractor to hire 2–3 Project Managers for its Gurnee, IL office. They build retail, hospitality and multifamily projects nationwide, and they’re growing their project management team heading into 2027.
What you’ll do
- Run projects from buyout through closeout, working closely with superintendents, engineers, architects and owners
- Help prepare cost estimates, solicit subcontractors and make sure every trade has solid bid coverage
- Lead contracting and procurement: write and issue subcontracts and purchase orders, and collect subcontractor references, financials and bond information
- Manage budgets, schedules and resources, and identify, mitigate and track recurring project issues
- Work with the project accountant on monthly pay applications, draw projections, schedules of values and cost coding
- Handle project administration: drawing sets, change bulletins, and RFI, submittal and change order logs for weekly owner reports
- Lead meetings, keep the action items list and publish minutes
- Own closeout: pre-punch with the superintendent, final punch with the owner, closeout package, O&M manuals, final Certificate of Occupancy and village inspections
What you bring
- 5+ years of commercial construction project management on the GC side
- Retail, hospitality or multifamily project experience
- 4-year degree in construction management, architecture or civil engineering preferred
- Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent communication and organization, with strong attention to detail
- Able to commute to Gurnee, IL (Lake County, north suburbs, Kenosha/Racine/Milwaukee area)
