About this opportunity

VP, Tax - Prestigious High Net Worth Family Office, Midtown | Hybrid | $350K–$375K All-In Compensation | Strong Benefits

The Opportunity: A prestigious, privately held family office is seeking a senior tax executive to join its leadership team and oversee the tax affairs of a highly sophisticated, multi-billion-dollar family enterprise.

This is a highly confidential environment with a long-term perspective and a broad range of investment and operating interests, including real estate, private investments, partnerships, trusts, foundations, and other closely held entities. The VP of Tax will work closely with the CFO, family representatives, attorneys, accountants, investment professionals, and other outside advisors.

This is a senior, hands-on role for a tax professional who is comfortable operating at a high level while remaining close to the details. The individual will be expected to bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage complex matters from planning through execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead tax planning and compliance activities across a sophisticated network of family, investment, operating, trust, and philanthropic entities.
  • Advise on tax implications of investments, restructurings, financings, real estate transactions, partnership activity, and other significant transactions.
  • Coordinate with outside tax, legal, accounting, and investment advisors to develop and execute tax strategies.
  • Oversee quarterly tax estimates, annual tax filings, financial reporting requirements, and related tax deliverables.
  • Participate in estate and wealth-transfer planning, including trusts, asset transfers, reorganizations, and other tax-sensitive structures.
  • Review and oversee partnership allocations, equity-related calculations, and other complex tax and accounting matters.
  • Support the family's philanthropic and foundation activities, including tax compliance and governance matters.
  • Work with the investment and finance teams on tax considerations involving private equity, alternative investments, real estate, and other complex assets.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to senior leadership and family representatives on tax-related issues and opportunities.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to accounting and tax professionals while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • CPA required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible tax experience, including significant work with UHNW individuals, families, partnerships, trusts, and complex entity structures.
  • Experience in a family office, private wealth environment, private bank, or major accounting/advisory firm strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical foundation in partnership taxation, individual taxation, trusts and estates, and multi-entity tax matters.
  • Experience working on sophisticated transactions and tax planning initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with principals, senior executives, attorneys, investment professionals, and outside advisors.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where the role extends beyond tax compliance into planning, analysis, and transaction support.

Compensation: $350K–$375K all-in compensation, along with a strong benefits package and additional company-sponsored benefits.

The above salary range represents Advice's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is not reflective of the total compensation package, which may also include benefits, equity and other non-cash incentives.
