Tax Manager

Our client is a Top 50 CPA firm headquartered in the Greater Chicago area, with more than 100 years of independent operation and approximately 450 professionals. The firm has never accepted private equity investment or merged with a national firm, and it offers the resources of a large organization while keeping decision-making local. The Tax Manager will oversee engagements for middle-market businesses and may pursue either a generalist path or a specialty such as High Net Worth and Family Office. The firm places a high priority on work-life balance, with busy-season hours averaging 60 per week.

Responsibilities

• Run tax engagements end to end: gathering information, managing due dates, client communication, and billing.
• Review 100% of returns (1065, 1120S, 1120 and 1040) for clients with $25M to $250M in revenue.
• Deliver tax planning for business owners and their companies.
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff and seniors on the job.
• Serve clients in manufacturing and distribution, construction, technology, real estate and professional services.
• Act as the day-to-day tax contact for your client relationships.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license or proven CPA track
• 6 to 12 years of progressive tax experience at a national or mid-size CPA firm.
• Full review responsibility on partnership, S corp, C corp and individual returns.
• Track record of managing engagements and developing staff.
• Generalist background, or a High Net Worth / Family Office specialty.
• Reliable transportation for occasional travel to client sites and firm events at other offices.
