Senior IT Project Manager

A global technology consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior IT Project Manager (PM) to join its growing team in New York City. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex technology projects and programmes, working closely with clients and internal teams to ensure successful delivery from planning through to completion.

The role offers the opportunity to lead large-scale projects, manage key stakeholder relationships and contribute to the continued growth and improvement of project delivery within a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment.

THE ROLE

You will lead complex projects and programmes from planning through to delivery, taking senior-level accountability for scope, budgets, project financials and client outcomes.

• Own the end-to-end delivery of complex fixed-bid projects and programmes.
• Act as the senior client-facing point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee bespoke application development projects, working closely with technical and engineering teams.
• Maintain full commercial accountability, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and can scale effectively.
• Report progress, risks and mitigation plans to stakeholders at all levels.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Lead project planning, execution and delivery aligned with PMP best practices.
• Manage fixed-bid / fixed-price engagements, taking full accountability for scope, budget, financial modelling and delivery.
• Oversee the delivery of bespoke application development projects, working closely with software engineering and technical teams.
• Manage project financials, forecasting, margins and resources, ensuring projects remain commercially viable and scalable.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
• Coordinate cross-functional technical teams to keep communication and task alignment on track.
• Monitor project risks, issues and changes, providing timely updates and mitigation strategies.
• Run regular status meetings and deliver progress reports to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and government regulations on public sector projects.
• Drive continuous process improvement and innovation in project management practices.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 10+ years of project management experience, with a strong track record leading complex technology projects and programmes.
• Essential: Significant experience managing application development projects, specifically bespoke/custom-built applications.
• Strong technical project delivery understanding, with exposure to software development environments and technologies such as .NET, C# or similar.
• Essential: Proven experience managing fixed-price / fixed-bid projects, with full accountability for scope, budget, financial modelling and delivery.
• Experience managing project commercials, financial performance, forecasting and ensuring projects are delivered profitably and at scale.
• Strong track record leading end-to-end project planning, execution and delivery aligned with PMP best practices.
• Experience managing complex timelines, budgets, resources, risks and change management.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently manage senior client relationships and stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to lead and coordinate technical teams, translating client requirements into successful technical delivery.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

NICE TO HAVE

• PMP certification.
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree.
• Experience delivering projects within public sector environments.
• Experience managing highly customised integrations and complex technical environments.
• Previous experience within an IT services or digital consultancy business.
• Exposure to account management and business development activities.
