Maintenance Supervisor - Packaging Manufacturer

George Thomas is working in partnership with a fiber-based packaging manufacturer based in Greater Chicago.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations in a growing manufacturing plant.

This role is vital in maximizing machine uptime and enhancing productivity across the maintenance team.

Location: Greater Chicago Area / Lake County IN

How will you add value to the team:

• Supervise operations of the Maintenance Department.
• Assess equipment and facilities to identify necessary maintenance or repairs.
• Collaborate with plant and production managers to plan and execute projects.
• Allocate tasks and supervise the maintenance team.
• Build and manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
• Oversee equipment inventory and place orders as needed.
• Plan and direct all repairs and installations of equipment.
• Maintain maintenance programs and report daily activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA Safety and Health regulations.
• Address mechanical/electrical issues promptly to support operations.
• Develop a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for optimal uptime.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
• Assist in departmental budget estimation and repair project costs.

To be considered for the role the qualifications which are required:

• Proven supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate and train a diverse team.
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance operations in areas including Packaging, Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation, Electronics/Controls, and Utility Systems.
• Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in progressive maintenance positions.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
