About this opportunity
Senior Tax Accountant | Tyler, TX | $90,000 to $120,000
$100k in Tyler is a very different number to six figures on the Tollway.
Same paycheck, a shorter drive home, and a firm whose clients have stuck around for three generations. That kind of loyalty usually says something about how people get treated inside the firm.
I’m recruiting this on behalf of a well established CPA firm in Tyler, TX.
Why people stay here
- The firm started during the East Texas oil boom and has been here ever since. Some of the families you’d work with have been clients since their grandparents ran the business.
- Around 130 people across three Texas offices. Large enough to have real resources, and you’ll still know the partners by name.
- Proper variety: oil and gas, healthcare, manufacturing, construction, restaurants, nonprofits and family wealth. You won’t be doing the same return three hundred times.
- Part of an international accounting association, so multistate and cross border work turns up without you having to move to Dallas or Houston.
- PTO that grows the longer you stay, paid CPE, firm paid memberships, an incentive bonus and a mentoring program.
- Still finishing the CPA? They’ll pay for study materials and help you get it done.
What your week looks like
- Preparing and reviewing returns for businesses, individuals, trusts and nonprofits (1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040, 1041, 990)
- Tax planning and projections, which is the bit most of us got into tax for
- Being the person clients actually call, not just the one who did the workpapers
- Reviewing staff work and showing them how you’d approach it
- Working closely with managers and partners who will be straight with you about your next step
What you’ll bring
- Three or more years of tax experience in US public accounting
- ERA or CPA licensed, or on the way
- Confidence with business returns across a mix of entity types
- You enjoy knowing your clients, and they enjoy knowing you
