About this opportunity
A Postdoctoral position is available to develop novel Bacteriophage T4-based T-cell therapies
The Rao lab (t4phagecures.com) is looking for creative and tenacious individuals interested in establishing a potentially transformative phage-based cellular therapy platform to join our team at the Bacteriophage Medical Research Center, The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.
We are designing a novel genetic “drug” platform that would bridge our T4 nanoparticle technology with T-cell based therapies. We will program the unique large-capacity T4 phage nanoparticle (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-38364-1) to target and recruit T-cells in vivo and deliver a therapeutic payload, including gene editing and large DNA insertion, to make T-cells resistant to HIV, and establish other genetic and cancer therapies. Once developed, this T4 Artificial Viruses technology would be broadly applicable to treat many genetic diseases and cancers and could potentially transform the future of gene therapy.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in the life sciences or related field.
- A strong background in primary cell culture and molecular engineering is desirable.
Prior experience preferred:
- Quantitative biochemistry and molecular biology
- CAR or other T-cell engineering
- Flow cytometry
- Resume or CV.
- Cover Letter stating why you are interested in this challenge and how you might help the team succeed.
