About this opportunity

Fitness Director

Next Gen Personal Training — Harding, NJ

Full-time · On-site · Salaried · $65,000 base + monthly bonus (up to $101,000/year)

(how that works is spelled out below)

Are you the coach every other trainer in your gym already turns to, but still paid like everyone else on the floor?

Your clients get results, and newer coaches come to you with questions.

Your income still stops at the number of sessions you can coach in a week.

That ceiling is why strong coaches leave the industry right when they're ready to lead.

If you want a role where your coaching, your leadership and your ability to grow a studio all show up in your paycheck, keep reading.

Who we are

For over 12 years, Next Gen Personal Training has helped adults across Morris County get strong and stay that way.

We're a premium small-group training studio with two locations located in Randolph and Harding, with more locations on the way.

Our clients stay with us for years, and our team looks forward to coming in.

Who you'll lead and coach

Most of our members are adults in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Many are busy professionals who are serious about their health and in it for the long haul.

You'll also lead a team of coaches who came up through one of the strongest onboarding systems in the industry.

Your job is to make them better every quarter and keep the culture they work in drama-free.

What you'll actually do

You'll run the Harding studio.

That means coaching on the floor, converting new members, keeping current members for years and leading the team that serves them.

Your week (40–50 hours):

  • About 20 hours coaching small-group sessions
  • 10–12 hours on new-client revenue: assessments, lead follow-up and nurture
  • 5–10 hours on member relationships: check-ins, nutrition meetings and reactivations
  • 2–5 hours running meetings and leading staff
What you'll own

Head of Sales. Every day you'll call new leads, unconverted leads, unconverted trials and former members. You'll run consultations, turn them into paid memberships and own the lead conversion system so it runs the same way every time. You'll also drive back-end revenue from supplements, apparel and internal challenges, and update the studio scorecard every week.

Leadership, Management and Accountability. You'll lead the weekly coaches meeting, sit in on our weekly Level 10 meeting and run quarterly and annual reviews for every coach. You'll build the coaching schedule and make sure every team member knows and follows our systems. When a coach calls out, you find coverage, and if you can't, you take the shift yourself.

Member Success and Communication. You'll onboard new members, run Starting Point Sessions and know every member by name. You'll create "You wouldn't believe my gym did this" moments, celebrate birthdays and milestones, and host events, challenges and parties. Each day you'll pull the missed and canceled sessions report and call every member on it. You'll also handle holds, cancellations and billing, prepare for the next day's consults, and gather upgrades and referrals.

Internal and Community Marketing. You'll turn member success stories into social content, collect testimonials and Google Reviews, and manage referral gifts. In the community, you'll build relationships with local businesses and leaders, set up booths at local events and run free demos and clinics for businesses that share our clientele.

Why directors stay here

Transparent pay that grows with the studio. Your $65,000 base is guaranteed. Your monthly bonus is tied to the total number of active members at the Harding studio:

  • 100 active members: $1,000/month → $77,000/year
  • 110 active members: $1,500/month → $83,000/year
  • 120 active members: $2,000/month → $89,000/year
  • 130 active members: $2,500/month → $95,000/year
  • 140 active members: $3,000/month → $101,000/year

Systems that already work. You won't build from scratch. Our lead follow-up system, Starting Point Sessions, weekly scorecard and Level 10 meetings are proven and ready for you to run.

Real continuing education. You get on-demand access to some of the best coaches and business leaders in the fitness industry, so your leadership keeps improving along with your coaching.

A career with room above it. We're expanding and we promote from within. Every new location needs a leader, and our next ones will come from this team.

A drama-free culture. We've protected a drama-free studio for nearly a decade. As Director, you're the one who keeps it that way.

Who thrives here
  • Be a Pro. You show up early and prepared, you know your numbers before anyone asks, and you keep every promise you make to a member.
  • Be a Team Player. When a shift is open, you either fill it or coach it. The studio's wins come before yours.
  • Be a Coach / Coachable. You give coaches clear expectations and honest feedback, and you take feedback just as well as you give it.
  • You love people. Helping members hit goals they didn't think they could is the whole job, and it doesn't change when your title does.

Certification: A nationally recognized personal training certification (NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, CFSC, CSCS, CPPS or equivalent) is required.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience coaching adults is required. Experience in sales or managing a team counts strongly in your favor.
