Senior Accountant, Commercial Real Estate (Retail NNN)

A growing retail real estate developer in the north suburbs is adding a Senior Accountant. The company builds and owns single-tenant and small-center retail leased to national credit tenants, with $5M to $50M projects and a real growth plan over the next few years.

This is a new seat and a hands-on one. You own the books for each property entity in Yardi Voyager, close them every month, and build the habits and tools that let the platform scale. You work directly with the partners and the finance lead.

What you'll own

• Monthly close for each real estate entity in Yardi Voyager: accruals, prepaids, depreciation, loan activity, contributions and distributions, intercompany
• A close workbook for every entity, with every balance sheet account reconciled to the trial balance
• Cleanup of older balances across entities, working with ownership and the outside tax team
• Lender reporting and correspondence: financials, rent rolls, covenant calcs, escrow and draw requests
• Property tax payments and the tax appeal calendar
• Invoice to payment, including directing a virtual AP resource and enforcing PO and approval controls
• NNN tenant billing, collections, and annual CAM reconciliations
• Process write-ups and Yardi improvements (PAYscan, PO, debt module)
• Senior Accountant - Commercial Real Estate4+ years of accounting, with training at a real estate focused firm (commercial or retail ideal, multifamily works)
• Hands-on Yardi Voyager: entity-level close and balance sheet recs
• Lender reporting and property tax experience
• Strong AP discipline and controls
• A builder mindset: you like fixing and improving, not just maintaining
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

Nice to have

• CAM reconciliations for NNN or retail centers
• Development side exposure: construction draws, cost segregation
• Waterfall and investor capital account experience
• CPA or progress toward it
