ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

OPTI Staffing Group is partnering with a well-established, growing healthcare organization in Anchorage to find an experienced Controller to join its leadership team!

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong accounting and finance professional who is ready to take ownership of financial operations, lead a team, and make a meaningful impact within an organization.

We're looking for someone who brings more than just accounting experience to the table. The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on leader who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and working alongside executive leadership to drive financial success.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls while playing a key role in the organization's long-term financial strategy.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while promoting accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, and month-end close.
  • Manage annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Develop financial models and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Partner directly with the CFO to monitor cash flow, financial performance, and future investments.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, distribution calculations, and financial projections.
  • Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and implement automation.
  • Review contracts, vendor agreements, and leases to ensure favorable financial terms.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and physician shareholders on financial planning and business decisions.
  • Oversee accounting software utilization and assist with system improvements or implementations.
  • Manage financial projects from development through completion.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • At least 5 years of accounting management or leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and lookups.
  • Experience managing accounting teams and overseeing complex financial operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with executive leadership.
  • A proactive, hands-on leadership style with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous accounting or finance experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Understanding of healthcare revenue cycles and financial operations.
  • Public accounting or audit experience.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software.

WHO WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?

We're looking for a Controller who is just as comfortable digging into financial statements as they are sitting down with leadership to discuss the bigger picture.

Someone who doesn't wait for problems to arise but actively looks for ways to improve operations, strengthen financial performance, and support their team.

The right person will be:

  • A natural leader who knows how to motivate and develop a team.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and financially strategic.
  • Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership of results.
  • Approachable, collaborative, and confident working with leadership.
  • Adaptable and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.
  • Motivated by professional growth and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY?

This isn't just another accounting management position.

You'll have the opportunity to work directly alongside executive leadership, influence financial decisions, improve existing processes, and help shape the future of an established healthcare organization.

For someone who enjoys both the operational and strategic sides of accounting, this position offers the opportunity to put those skills to work in a meaningful way.
