M.D. Smith Construction is a Tampa-based General Contractor specializing in commercial construction and multifamily renovations throughout Florida. Since 2009, we’ve built our reputation by delivering quality projects, developing long-term client relationships, and investing in great people.

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout while working directly with company ownership.

Our projects include commercial renovations, multifamily renovations, occupied renovations, exterior building envelope improvements, capital improvement projects, and select ground-up commercial construction. Typical project values range from $250,000 to over $5 million.

Project Manager candidates with exceptional qualifications will also be considered.

• Manage commercial construction projects from startup through closeout
• Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
• Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation
• Monitor project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and profitability
• Lead project meetings and maintain proactive client communication
• Prepare project forecasts, billing, and cost reporting
• Manage project closeout, punch lists, warranties, and final documentation

Minimum Qualifications

-             Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, Civil Engineering, or a closely related construction field (required)

-             Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience with a General Contractor

-             Commercial construction experience required

-             Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, budgeting, contracts, cost control, and financial management

-             Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-             Confidence leading meetings and communicating professionally with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel

-             Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

-             Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software

-             Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

-             8+ years of Project Management experience

-             Multifamily renovation experience

-             Ground-up commercial construction experience

-             Experience with Buildertrend, Procore, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar software

-             OSHA 30 Certification
