Director of Capture, US Government

Director of US Government Capture Management - Hybrid | Washington DC - Satellite Tech🛰️

We're working with a growing satellite technology company looking to hire a Director of Capture to lead strategic pursuits across the US Government space market. The business designs, manufactures and operates advanced satellite systems, delivering communications capabilities for commercial and government customers.

This is a highly visible position where you'll take ownership of complex government pursuits, develop competitive strategies and bring together technical and commercial teams to secure new programmes. We're looking for someone who understands the federal acquisition landscape, knows what it takes to win major government contracts and enjoys working at the intersection of technology, strategy and business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full capture lifecycle for targeted US Government opportunities, from early engagement through proposal submission and contract award.
• Develop and execute capture plans, competitive positioning strategies and win themes.
• Partner with business development teams to evaluate opportunities and understand customer priorities.
• Conduct competitor assessments and Price-to-Win analysis to strengthen bid positioning.
• Identify and establish strategic teaming arrangements and industry partnerships.
• Coordinate engineering, pricing, proposal and commercial teams throughout the capture process.
• Lead internal capture reviews, risk assessments and Bid/No-Bid recommendations.
• Work with proposal teams to develop persuasive, compliant submissions.
• Present capture strategies and progress updates to senior leadership.
• Support the transition of successful contract awards into programme delivery.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience across government capture, business development, engineering, programme management or corporate strategy.
• Federal capture, proposal management or government acquisition experience.
• Strong understanding of US Government procurement processes and competitive acquisition strategies.
• Experience developing capture plans, win strategies and compelling value propositions.
• Knowledge of the US Government space sector and wider commercial space industry.
• Experience with satellite systems, space missions or related aerospace technologies.
• Competitive analysis, Price-to-Win assessments and Black Hat reviews.
• Ability to work closely with engineering, pricing, proposal and executive teams.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences or a related technical field.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Previous or current security clearance, or eligibility to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
