In-House Litigation Attorney

A 50-year old real estate company is hiring a litigation attorney to work in-house for their Nevada matters. This role is remote, but the attorney must live in and be barred in Nevada.

This company's litigation runs the gambit from ADA claims to tenant liability to employee class action stuff (single and multi-plaintiff liability claims). If attorneys have a specialty, that’s great! If not, they’ll do a wide variety of matters.

Responsibilities of Role:

1. Litigation from A-Z. They don’t use outside counsel, so attorneys handle case strategy, briefs, settlement, trial prep, etc. - they do all the work.
2. They settle cases but are not afraid to go to trial. It’s not often, but they go to trial around once a year. Occasionally farm to outside counsel, but not common.
3. Billable requirement: None, but this attorney will work probably 50 hour weeks.

Must-Haves:

1. Barred NV or willing to take NV bar. If not barred in NV, must be in CA or TX.
2. Experience actually litigating cases from start to finish: responding to complaints, going back and forth via discovery, law & motion, trial preparation, and negotiating settlements.
3. 8+ years of experience. Autonomy is key!
4. Someone who can run their own cases with limited instructions.

Profile that would be a fit:

• Someone who likes to work independently and doesn’t need mentorship at this stage of their career.
• Someone who likes drafting motions, doing discovery, etc. as opposed to someone who has just managed outside counsel from an in-house perspective
• Former DAs or insurance defense folks do well – anyone who has handled a heavy caseload.
• Experience with employment law defense or general liability defense (the specialization of the two current attorneys on staff) is not required. They can come from another practice area specialization (like business law).
